How to Book a Dock Appointment with OpenDock | Taylor Public Warehousing

If you’ve moved freight through one of our public warehouses recently, you’ve probably heard us mention OpenDock. It’s the dock scheduling platform we use to manage appointments, and it’s now the way to book an inbound or outbound load at our public warehouse facilities. No booking, no dock. That’s the rule at each of these locations.

We know adding a new step to your process can feel like friction. So here’s exactly what OpenDock is, why we made the switch, and how to book an appointment at any of our three public warehouse facilities in under five minutes.

What is OpenDock? OpenDock is a dock scheduling platform that lets carriers and partners book inbound and outbound appointments online, based on real-time dock availability, instead of coordinating by phone or email.

Why We Standardized on OpenDock for Dock Scheduling

Dock scheduling used to mean a mix of phone calls, emails, and spreadsheets, all trying to keep pace with real-time yard conditions. That approach breaks down fast when volume picks up. OpenDock gives our team and our partners one shared view of dock availability, so appointment times actually reflect what’s happening on the ground: open doors, load type, pallet count, and carrier requirements.

For our partners, that means fewer surprises at the gate, shorter wait times, and a confirmation you can count on. For us, it means our warehouse teams can plan labor and equipment around a schedule they can trust.

All appointments at our public warehouse facilities go through OpenDock. Every inbound and outbound load must be scheduled before arrival.

How to Book a Dock Appointment with OpenDock

The process is the same six steps no matter which facility you’re working with:

  1. Get your booking link. We’ll send you a direct OpenDock link, or you can search for the facility name and address at OpenDock.com.
  2. Sign in or continue as guest. Returning users log in with their existing account. First time booking? Create a free OpenDock account or book as a guest, whichever is faster for you.
  3. Pick the facility and appointment type. Choose the correct location, then select Inbound Delivery, Outbound Pickup, or Drop Trailer.
  4. Choose an open time slot. Available times reflect real dock capacity, load type (FTL, LTL, or pallet count), and any carrier-specific rules.
  5. Enter your shipment details. Have your PO number or BOL reference, carrier name, driver contact, trailer type, and any special handling notes ready to go.
  6. Confirm your appointment. Review the details and confirm. Watch your inbox for the confirmation email, that’s your green light.

Have This Ready Before You Book

  • Carrier company name
  • Driver name and contact, if known
  • Trailer type (Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, etc.)
  • Special handling notes, if any
  • Customer name on file with the facility
