Driving Sustainability: Taylor Partipates in Supplier LOCT Program

Sustainability is a priority at Taylor, and we’re proud to share our journey in the Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition (Supplier LOCT) program. This initiative marks a pivotal step in assessing and managing our Scope 1 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, furthering our commitment to environmental responsibility.

What Is Supplier LOCT?

Supplier LOCT is a comprehensive program designed to help companies reduce their carbon footprint through supplier collaboration. Developed in partnership with Guidehouse, it offers hands-on workshops and tools to address GHG emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3. The focus is on creating actionable plans for carbon reduction, including expert-led guidance on emissions accounting, science-based target setting, and sustainable business practices.

Why Focus on Scope 1 Emissions?

Scope 1 emissions represent direct emissions from company-controlled operations, such as fuel use in vehicles and energy consumption in facilities. These emissions are critical to address because they are within a company’s immediate control and offer the most direct opportunities for impactful reductions.

Taylor’s Progress in the LOCT Program

Participating in the Supplier LOCT program has been a collaborative and educational experience for our team. Here’s what we’ve achieved so far:

1. Data Gathering and Analysis

We’ve begun tracking direct emission sources across our fleet and facilities, ensuring accurate and actionable data collection.

2. Leveraging Expert Insights

The program has equipped us with tools to analyze our GHG emissions, identify reduction opportunities, and create measurable goals.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Teams from fleet management to warehouse operations have been actively involved in this initiative, ensuring a company-wide approach to sustainability.

4. Ongoing Workshops and Training

By attending Supplier LOCT’s live seminars, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of emissions management and strategies for impactful change.

Statistics That Highlight the Need for Action

• According to data from Statista, global CO₂ emissions from fossil fuels reached 37.01 billion metric tons in 2023 and continue to rise.

• Supply chain emissions account for over 70% of a company’s total carbon footprint, emphasizing the importance of supplier-focused initiatives like LOCT.

What’s Next for Taylor?

While we’ve made significant progress, there’s more to be done. Our next steps include:

• Continuing to refine and reduce Scope 1 emissions through innovative technologies and improved processes.

• Expanding efforts to include Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, fostering partnerships that share our vision for sustainability.

• Sharing our journey transparently to inspire and collaborate with others in the industry.

Join Us on This Journey

Taylor is committed to making meaningful strides in sustainability, and our work with the Supplier LOCT program is just one of many initiatives to achieve that goal. Together with our partners, employees, and stakeholders, we’re creating a more sustainable future for our industry and beyond.
